Accommodation

The Auld Kirk has seven purpose built ensuite letting rooms all situated on the first floor,  accessed from the entrance hallway via a wide staircase.

We have five double bedded rooms and two twin bedded rooms – the twin beds can also be linked to form double bedded accommodation if required.

One of our double bedded rooms also has a daybed that can be converted to an additional single bed allowing occupation by three persons if needed, or use as an additional twin bedded room.

The  bedrooms are fitted with smart contemporary shower rooms.  One double room is available with a bath.
All rooms have wireless internet access to enable use of your own internet device.

Complementary beverage making facilities, local still and sparkling mineral water, televisions, ironing equipment, hair driers and Scottish Soap company toiletries are to be found in all rooms.

Superior rooms.

We are able to offer two superior rooms at the Auld Kirk.  These rooms are slightly larger that our standard rooms and are fitted with higher specification furnishings and bathroom fittings.  Fresh fruit and home- made biscuits, towelling robes and slippers are also provided in these rooms.

Check in times.

Check in is usually between 4pm and 7pm, during which time a duty manager is here to welcome you to the Kirk and provide any assistance or information you may need. Guests are required to check out by 11am on the day of departure. Check in before 4pm or after 7pm will be accommodated wherever possible, by prior arrangement.

Guest Lounge.

Our former Kirk bar, situated off the entrance hall on the ground floor, now serves as a comfortable licensed lounge dedicated to guest use. Blending the old with the new, this lounge provides a stylish and interesting space in which to relax with a good book, plan your next castle visit or recover from a day’s hill walking with a coffee and a cake or a wee dram.

The lounge is available for guest use from 8.am to 10.30 pm and a duty manager is available to serve afternoon refreshments including alcoholic beverages between 4pm and 7pm allowing residents to gather for a drink prior to venturing out to one of the local restaurants for dinner.

An external terrace area is also available for guests to make the most of the fine Scottish weather – umbrellas can be found in the porch!

Packed lunches.

We are often asked to provide a packed lunch to residents planning a day in the depths of GlenTannar or a hike up Lochnagar. Please speak to a member of staff on your arrival to discuss your specific requirements.

Dogs.

We are pleased to welcome well behaved dogs at the Auld Kirk. Several good dog walking routes are available in the immediate vicinity of the Kirk and in every direction around the village.

We are of course unable to allow dogs into the breakfast room, but they are welcome in the lounge. Please bring your own dog bedding and we would ask that guests do not lock unattended dogs in their rooms.

We make a small charge of £10 per stay for dogs.

Please advise us on booking if you intend to bring your dog as dogs are not allowed in all rooms.
